Hans

Hans is a handsome, happy little 6 year old boy. His caregivers describe him as happy, active, and popular.

We met Hans in October. He was certainly thrilled that we brought fruit snacks with us and enjoyed them to the fullest!

Hans' file indicates that he had an inter-cranial hemorrhage as an infant. He Counts to ten and his speech is clear and easy to understand. He speaks in complete sentences. He is 1st grade and is doing well in school.

He is an active little guy who likes to play ball and laugh, but he also sat down and played with Legos for quite sometime. We noted that his attention span is appropriate for a boy his age.

He walks, runs, jumps, and stands on one foot. He stacks blocks and put a little puzzle together with us.

Hans is a precious little by waiting for a family to call his own. Could he be your son? Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information.

Davey {Taiwan}

Davey is a super adorable 6 year old boy looking for his forever family! Gladney's Superkids team met Davey in October 2016. He quickly warmed up and had a great time playing and interacting with us.

Davey loves to be active and enjoys playing basketball and riding a bike. His caregivers state that he is a good logical thinker and will sit and complete a 48 piece jigsaw puzzle by himself. Davey is great at making friends and will happily share his snacks and toys.

He loves to singing, playing house and pretending to cook, and watching cartoons. His favorite food is hot dogs.

Davey is suspected to have mild ADHD and is not currently taking any medication for it, but is being monitored by doctors. For more information on Davey and to review his full profile, photos, and video, please contact Taiwan Program Caseworker, Mary Chapman, at mary.chapman@gladney.org.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you!

As we gather with our families today and enjoy the comforts of home, as we eat the turkey and pumpkin pie, then gather to watch football with our loved ones, we would like to express our gratitude for a very special group of people today.

We have a Superkids team in China right now getting updated information for children who are a part of the Former Shared List project. These people sacrificed the comforts of home on this holiday because of their love for these children and their belief that every child deserves a family.

This team is in the Guizhou province and they are performing developmental screening and taking beautiful pictures of children, many of whom desperately need updates in their files. You can read more about this project here.

So today, as you gather with loved ones take a moment to say a prayer of gratitude for these people and for the children they are meeting.

By next year there may well be children celebrating Thanksgiving with their new families thanks to the work this team is doing today!

A Week of Gratitude {April Uduhiri}

I'm so grateful for the people in my life - my family, friends and co-workers.  After spending most of October in the office alone while everyone else travelled to China... well, let's just say I am exceptionally grateful for my co-workers this month!!

But of course, I am most thankful for the special men in my life.  My little guy who lights up the room with sunshine and my husband Reggie - without his support I would not be able to do the work I love to do.

Spending this Thanksgiving with loved ones means the world to me - I hope each and every one of you is also spending time with the ones you hold dear and remembering the many blessings we have to be thankful for.

Hadley!

Hadley is such a smiley, happy little girl!

When we met her in October, she loved playing and laughed as Douglas spun her around and put her at the top of the slide. He would help her slide down really fast and she quickly learned to say "again!" as soon as she got to the bottom of the slide.

video

She is 5 years old and has quite a list of diagnoses. She has complex CHD, for which she has received surgery. She also has hemiplegia on her left side. Her liver is on the left and her spleen on the right. But I can tell you that is not what you think about when you meet her!

She walks on her knees mostly, though she can also stand and walk. She is quite the little go-getter, jumping as she races after the ball! She speaks clearly and in complete sentences. She follows commands and answers questions. She stacks blocks and her cute little dimple pops out as she grins when they fall over.

Little Hadley needs a family. She has so much potential and could go so far with the medical care and support she needs to thrive! Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information!

Week of Gratitude {Mary Chapman}

Each year as Thanksgiving draws near, like many of you I’m sure, I like to spend some time reflecting on the last year and things that I feel lucky to have experienced or contributed to. I also think about the people who made those experiences so special and unique, people I’m truly thankful to know. One of those people is Michelle, a volunteer adoption advocate who has been on the last two Superkids trips to Taiwan.

While on the trip, Michelle is an integral part of the team. She gets the “fun” job – playing with the kids! She gets to see their personalities shine through when they are doing what kids do best – playing. She is so great at getting all of the kids comfortable enough to open up, have fun, and show us their unique and special personalities.

But Michelle’s work doesn’t stop once the trip is over. She works tirelessly once home to help organize the information we gathered, write blog posts about different children, and to advocate on social media. Michelle always finds something genuinely special about each child, and is able to reflect that in her posts about the child.

While Michelle has a special connection to Taiwan and the waiting children there, she is always eager to share about adoption in general or waiting children from other countries.

She truly has an amazing heart for these children – and we are so lucky, and thankful, to have her assistance in finding forever families for so many of these great kids!

Murphy {Taiwan}

Cuteness alert... Three year old Murphy is sure to melt your heart! Look at that precious face! His sweet smiles and soft eyes! And I can still hear his adorable noises as he toddled around.

During our time together he showed us how curious he is. From blowing bubbles to catching and popping bubbles, coloring, playing cars and even jumping in the ball pit!

Murphy is a little shy and quiet. When he looks up at you with those soft brown eyes you can't help but smile. And in return he gives you one of his priceless smiles in return. We even got to experience his silly giggle.

Precious Murphy is in search of his forever family. A mommy and daddy to call his own. Could he be your son? For more information on Murphy, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org

Harmony

It is all about the cute little girls right now!

First Skylar and Rosie last week, now Harmony!

Look at this sweet baby girl!

Harmony is 2 years old and has CHD (TOF) and limb differences involving her hands. She is described as happy and out-going.

She walks by herself and responds to her name. She speaks in simple words and phrases and expresses her needs to her caregiver. She stacks blocks and scribbles on paper. She seems to have a close relationship with her caregiver.

Harmony needs a family! Could she be your daughter? Please contact superkids@gladney.org for more information!

A Week of Gratitude {Leta White}

We are doing a series of gratitude posts this week. Please join us by sharing what you are grateful for in the comments!

I am grateful for my recent experience of having the opportunity to meet two of the families, during my recent trip to China.  It was a special time for me to be able to meet the children the families were adopting, since I do not often have the chance to meet families in person.

Jack, our Guangzhou representative, took us to see a few sights around the city as the families were waiting for their consulate appointment dates to arrive.  I am grateful for Jack and his warm hospitality that he gave not only to me, but to all of the families he assists.

Darby {Taiwan}

We are pleased to introduce Darby!  She is four, almost five, and loads of fun! Princess flower dress and all...

Oh my oh my... seems like just yesterday that we were playing. Her precious giggles are truly contagious. She is so talkative and fun! She loves playing pretend. Darby made each of us something in her kitchen and then fed us. Ever so careful to blow on the spoon to cool its contents! How precious!

Darby is the perfect blend of sugar and spice. She let us experience her nurturing but also her energetic self. Even in her pretty pink dress she was more than eager to ride on the little car and even tumble in the pop up tent.

This 'lil lady is in search of her forever family. She is sure to bring lots of joy! Could she be your daughter? Ask away we have so much to share! For more information on Darby, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org.

Delilah {Taiwan}

Sweetness overload warning... meet Delilah! Her soft round brown eyes and fluffy hair... oh the sweetness. She shares a precious relationship with her foster dad. The bond and connection was so amazing to experience.

Ever so tiny she amazed us. With guidance from her foster dad she was quick to show us her skills. From playing with the stacking cups, blocks, the light up stick and story books... She even showed us how tall she was as she stood proud. A truly sweet moment when she saw her reflection in the mirror and gave it kisses.

Delilah sees the cup as half full rather than half empty... she is in hope of finding her forever. She will thrive in a loving family that will treasure her connection just as much as she does. We have so much information to share so ask away. Could Delilah be your precious brown eyed daughter? To review Delilah’s full profile, please be in touch with Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org

Drew {Taiwan}

We bring to you today the adventurous, fun-loving boy, Drew! Our adventures included bubble blowing, measuring how tall he is, Lego building, handwriting, and even silliness with the electric tooth brush. He is a load of fun!

He is active and curious all while also being equally as caring. His relationship with his friends is so sweet to experience. As he worked on his Lego car he asked his friend to help. It was just so adorable to watch the two interact.

He also has the sweetest relationship with his case worker. It's precious to see the connection and trust they have built searching for his forever family.

Drew has the sweetest smile and the most fluffy eye lashes. His giggle is contagious.

Super Sweet Skylar!

We have a precious little girl to introduce today. Sweet Skylar! She just turned 2, and has the cutest little grin!

The notes we have on her are all things like "very sweet!" "loves playing" and "happy". She is walking, running, jumping, and stands on one foot. She stacks blocks and giggles when they fall over.

Skylar's only listed medical need is a blocked tear duct, but her file is a little bit obscure and possibly mentions some other issues families would need to discuss with their doctor and be aware of. We have met her several times and are happy to answer questions about her as well.

Skylar is in a foster home and seems to be doing very well there! She seemed very connected and comfortable with her foster mom as you can tell.

This darling little girl needs a family! Could she be your daughter? Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information!

Mackenzie {Taiwan}

Mackenzie is a fun, sweet, and silly 9 year old. She has such a happy and fun personality – and a great smile. She was able to find humor in a lot of our activities together. As long as we made something a game, she was up for doing whatever we needed her to do! We have some really great photos from our trip that show off her personality!

She told us that she loves to knit – how adorable is that?! Her foster mother shared that she also likes to play pranks on her foster siblings – this girl is a goofball. But a wonderful goofball!

Mackenzie has microcephaly and mild cognitive delays. She is currently in resource classes at school which have really helped her gain confidence in her learning.

Could Mackenzie be your daughter? To review Mackenzie’s full profile and photos, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org.

Harley is 2 years old and has Down syndrome. She is in a foster home and has a very loving foster mom whom we have met many times. Harley seems to be thriving!

She is a happy, giggly little girl who smiles quickly and loves to play with people. She stacks blocks together and bangs toys, she crawls and sits by herself.She pulls herself to a standing position and is beginning to walk. She makes noises, but she isn't saying words yet. She is such a sweetie and so fun to play with!

Harley needs a family! She has a $4,000 grant through Gladney! Please ask us more about this! For additional information please email us at superkids@gladney.org.

Moe! {Taiwan}

Climb aboard... introducing 10 year old Moe!

From the moment he stepped foot in the room his smile was wide. He is so fun loving and adventurous. His climbing skills are fabulous as he was quick to show us he could master the rope ladder. His smile was joined by laughter the moment he began to play ball with us. At one point with a ball in each hand it appears that he is feeding the hippo. Gotta love those fun moments... he giggled as we showed him pictures and he surprised us as he said "time out" in English!

Each of the moments we spent together was precious. Moe was so respectful and genuinely interested to see what skill tests he would get to do. As he showed us his handwriting and answered questions we got to experience his connection to his foster dad. Total sweetness! He also showed us his creative skills as he worked the Tetris puzzles.

Moe is searching for his forever family. Could you be his forever? He is certain to bring great joy to the family that opens their home to him. For more information on Moe, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org

Evelyn!

We met Evelyn!

It never ceases to amaze me how different it is to write an advocacy post after you have met a child! Let me tell you about Evelyn now that we have met her and seen this cuteness in person!

video

Evelyn is 2. She has Down syndrome and CHD. And she is the cutest, sweetest, silliest little 2 year old girl you could hope to meet!

She is walking by herself and really aced all of our little developmental things we do with little ones. She scribbles and stacks blocks and she is all about the baby puffs! Believe me, she can grab them and get those things to her mouth no problem!

She understands simple commands, though her caregiver pointed out that she also likes to pick and choose which of those commands she actually follows. She is 2, after all.

There was a whole group of little ones in the room with her and the caregivers were singing little songs with them and doing hand motions. She was right in there doing the motions! So, so cute!

Evelyn has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. Please spread the word and let's get this little one home! Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information about adopting Evelyn!
