Hadley!

Hadley is such a smiley, happy little girl!

When we met her in October, she loved playing and laughed as Douglas spun her around and put her at the top of the slide. He would help her slide down really fast and she quickly learned to say "again!" as soon as she got to the bottom of the slide.

She is 5 years old and has quite a list of diagnoses. She has complex CHD, for which she has received surgery. She also has hemiplegia on her left side. Her liver is on the left and her spleen on the right. But I can tell you that is not what you think about when you meet her!

She walks on her knees mostly, though she can also stand and walk. She is quite the little go-getter, jumping as she races after the ball! She speaks clearly and in complete sentences. She follows commands and answers questions. She stacks blocks and her cute little dimple pops out as she grins when they fall over.

Week of Gratitude {Mary Chapman}

Each year as Thanksgiving draws near, like many of you I’m sure, I like to spend some time reflecting on the last year and things that I feel lucky to have experienced or contributed to. I also think about the people who made those experiences so special and unique, people I’m truly thankful to know. One of those people is Michelle, a volunteer adoption advocate who has been on the last two Superkids trips to Taiwan. 

While on the trip, Michelle is an integral part of the team. She gets the “fun” job – playing with the kids! She gets to see their personalities shine through when they are doing what kids do best – playing. She is so great at getting all of the kids comfortable enough to open up, have fun, and show us their unique and special personalities. 

But Michelle’s work doesn’t stop once the trip is over. She works tirelessly once home to help organize the information we gathered, write blog posts about different children, and to advocate on social media. Michelle always finds something genuinely special about each child, and is able to reflect that in her posts about the child.

While Michelle has a special connection to Taiwan and the waiting children there, she is always eager to share about adoption in general or waiting children from other countries. 

She truly has an amazing heart for these children – and we are so lucky, and thankful, to have her assistance in finding forever families for so many of these great kids!  

Murphy {Taiwan}

Cuteness alert... Three year old Murphy is sure to melt your heart! Look at that precious face! His sweet smiles and soft eyes! And I can still hear his adorable noises as he toddled around.

During our time together he showed us how curious he is. From blowing bubbles to catching and popping bubbles, coloring, playing cars and even jumping in the ball pit!

Murphy is a little shy and quiet. When he looks up at you with those soft brown eyes you can't help but smile. And in return he gives you one of his priceless smiles in return. We even got to experience his silly giggle.

Harmony

It is all about the cute little girls right now!

First Skylar and Rosie last week, now Harmony!

Look at this sweet baby girl!

Harmony is 2 years old and has CHD (TOF) and limb differences involving her hands. She is described as happy and out-going.

She walks by herself and responds to her name. She speaks in simple words and phrases and expresses her needs to her caregiver. She stacks blocks and scribbles on paper. She seems to have a close relationship with her caregiver.

A Week of Gratitude {Leta White}

I am grateful for my recent experience of having the opportunity to meet two of the families, during my recent trip to China.  It was a special time for me to be able to meet the children the families were adopting, since I do not often have the chance to meet families in person.  

Jack, our Guangzhou representative, took us to see a few sights around the city as the families were waiting for their consulate appointment dates to arrive.  I am grateful for Jack and his warm hospitality that he gave not only to me, but to all of the families he assists.

Darby {Taiwan}

We are pleased to introduce Darby!  She is four, almost five, and loads of fun! Princess flower dress and all...

Oh my oh my... seems like just yesterday that we were playing. Her precious giggles are truly contagious. She is so talkative and fun! She loves playing pretend. Darby made each of us something in her kitchen and then fed us. Ever so careful to blow on the spoon to cool its contents! How precious! 

Darby is the perfect blend of sugar and spice. She let us experience her nurturing but also her energetic self. Even in her pretty pink dress she was more than eager to ride on the little car and even tumble in the pop up tent.

Delilah {Taiwan}

Sweetness overload warning... meet Delilah! Her soft round brown eyes and fluffy hair... oh the sweetness. She shares a precious relationship with her foster dad. The bond and connection was so amazing to experience.

Ever so tiny she amazed us. With guidance from her foster dad she was quick to show us her skills. From playing with the stacking cups, blocks, the light up stick and story books... She even showed us how tall she was as she stood proud. A truly sweet moment when she saw her reflection in the mirror and gave it kisses. 

Delilah sees the cup as half full rather than half empty... she is in hope of finding her forever. She will thrive in a loving family that will treasure her connection just as much as she does.
