Desi {Taiwan}

Desi was one of the happiest and most fun loving kids around. He was a charmer, ready to engage us all with his personality.

He came ready to impress, showing off his English skills. He counted from 1 to 10 in English and continued by telling us the colors and animals that he knew.

When asked to draw a picture of anything he wanted, he drew the best Pokémon figure.  Desi said his favorite subject is art and he loves to draw. He also likes to perform, play tag with his friends, and do anything to put a smile on someone’s face and make them laugh.  Deci was very animated with his hand gestures and used a wide range of different voices when showing us how he gets a smile and laugh out of someone.

Desi was ready to advocate from himself, telling us that he wants to be adopted “I want it so much, but my English is poor.”

Deci is a 9 year old boy who has no known medical needs. Could this charmer be your son? Contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org for more information.

Nadia

Nadia is a darling, happy little girl who shows her recognition for people by laughing and waving her hands. She is very happy when her caregiver arrives in the morning.

She is 2 years old and has Down Syndrome. She was independently and communicates through simple words and gestures. She enjoys playing with blocks, putting them in a bucket then dumping them out. She also loves playing with balloons and splashing in water.

Nadia is described as a quiet child, and I love this picture of her looking at books! Doesn't she just look too sweet? This little sweetie needs a family! Could she be your daughter?

She has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information.

Donald {Taiwan}

Donald took a while to warm up. He looked as if he was sizing all of us volunteers up. He was shy and quiet. Even when he was given Legos, he carefully inspected the box and looked at the instructions before diving into them.

After putting together his Lego set, he showed us his competitive side. He was asked to do some tasks from the volunteers and he wanted to do it better than them.  Such as throwing and catching a ball to walking backwards to skipping; all done with such perfection.

The caregiver said that every morning he looks in a mirror and says he’s “handsome.” And boy is he right; from his long eye lashes to his perfect smile.  Donald’s full of confidence, but can you blame him?

Donald is a 7 year old boy with minor needs. Could this handsome guy be your son? Contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org for more information.

Family Friday {Molly}

Most of the time we post about matches on Family Friday, but today I want to tell you about Molly. I have taken photos of Molly on 3 different occasions. The first time was in September of 2015. She came bouncing into the room and we all smiled. She was cute and spunky and had that little spark that makes a child really stand out. It was our first time visiting that SWI and we were not sure yet if a partnership would be established between Gladney and the SWI.

The next time we visited the SWI we had a partnership established and we knew we would get the chance to help find families for some of the adorable children we met. Again, Molly bounced and giggled her way right into our hearts. She would copy English words and cover her little mouth when she laughed. We knew she would be such a blessing to her family!

This week I got to see Molly again. This time she visited at my home with her family. She is learning English and learning how to be a daughter and a sister. And she is learning that families are forever. We did a lot of fun things together. I found out that ice cream and chocolate are great motivators for Molly. And one evening I got to take photos of her. Photos of her with her family. Her eyes sparkled and she much preferred the jumping and action shots to the posed shots.

I look at little Molly and know that it is all so worth the time, the effort, and the waiting. This child is definitely worth the wait. There are so many other little sweeties waiting for their families! You can see our waiting children from China here. We would love to speak with you about starting the adoption process today! Nolan

Are you ready for some darling dancing baby boy cuteness this morning? Meet Nolan!

Nolan is 2 years old and is described as quiet and shy. His file says he cries very sad tears when he is left by familiar people. Doesn't that make you want to scoop him up and keep him close forever?

He is learning to walk and takes several steps independently, or at least he was when his file was prepared a couple of months ago. I bet he is walking and running by now. He is also learning to communicate his needs. He understands simple commands.

I had to laugh when I read that he favorite activity is football. Not bad for a baby who wasn't quite walking!

Nolan has Down Syndrome. Like all of our waiting children with Down Syndrome, he has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. We would love to help you bring this precious baby home!

Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information.

Lachlan

Sweet baby cuteness coming your way!

Lachlan is 2 years old and is a sweet, cuddly baby boy. He likes to be held and takes a little time to warm up to new people. He is a smart little guy who exceeded our expectations developmentally when we met him in October.

He is diagnosed with eczema and, unfortunately, his file also says "mental retardation". As I said, when we met him he was meeting or exceeding milestones.

He likes playing with blocks and building block towers. He walks, runs, and jumps. He goes up and down steps with a little assistance. He follows simple instructions and speaks in short sentences. He points to his eyes, ears, nose, etc. when asked. He feeds himself finger foods and is quick to share snacks with his friends.

This little sweetie needs a family! Could he be your son? Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information.

Debbie & Donnie {Taiwan}

The dynamic duo consists of Debbie and Donnie.  They get the name dynamic duo because it means two people who are really close or always together. Debbie is the oldest by 2 years.  Debbie is noted for looking out for her brother and reminds him of things he needs to do.  But as they are getting older Donnie is starting to look out for his sister more and more.

Behind the cutest smile ever is a very shy and quiet girl named Debbie.  She happily answered all our questions in the softest voice. Debbie said that her favorite thing to do is ride on the school bus. She also enjoys swinging on swings at the playground. Her favorite colors are red and yellow.

Donnie took cues from his sister and became more talkative and warmed up a lot faster when asked about what he likes. And yes he’s all boy. He told us that he goes to school but it’s not his favorite as it’s too easy.  He likes to play video games, Legos, remote control cars, and robots.

Thinking we could break the ice, one of the volunteers brought a toy that made a bodily function noise (I’m sure you can guess what that was!). After Donnie got over the fact that indeed there really is a toy that does that, he thought it was the most hilarious thing ever. And in typical boy fashion he decided he would one up the volunteer and use his armpit to make the noise.  Belly rolling laughter soon filled the room.

Debbie is a 10 year old girl with minor needs. Donnie is an 8 year boy with minor needs. Could this dynamic duo be your daughter and son? Contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org for more information.
