Fantastic Farrah! {Taiwan}

Farrah is a sweet two year old girl that Superkids met in September. She had a calm demeanor and her caregivers stated that she enjoys playing with the other children. She likes playing with toys that light up or make sounds.

Farrah is a foodie – she loves very flavorful foods! If she really likes something she will want to keep eating and eating!

She has an amazing connection to one of her caregivers – as soon as the caregiver walked into the room we saw her face just light up! She instantly became more active and smiley. Her caregiver explained that they have been working hard with her to learn new motor skills and that she also attends physical therapy weekly. They have seen her make great strides in her therapies.

Farrah wears hearing aids in both ears and it is also reported that she may have some vision issues. Farrah also has developmental delays and, as mentioned above, is receiving therapies.

Superkids Spotlight: Neurological Conditions Part One - It's All About the Brain

Gunner

It's Gunner's turn to be introduced! We wrote about meeting him in April here, but now his file is complete and we can actually advocate for a family for him!

Gunner is a cute, funny 4 year old boy. He loves playing and bouncing a ball. Nothing makes him laugh harder than if you act silly with him bounce the ball off of your head! He absolutely loves silly play!

Gunner has a repaired cleft lip and cleft palate, he also has minor CHD and some kidney swelling.

He is an active little boy who can run, jump, and kick a ball. He is a little delayed with language. He says words and understands what is said to him, but does not yet speak in complete sentences. He enjoys coloring and drawing and also helped to put together a small Lego vehicle.

Gunner is in foster care and it is reported that he gets along well with his foster sibling.

Katelyn

Sometimes a child walks into the room and you actually gasp at how incredibly lovely they are. Katelyn is one of those children.

See what I mean?

Katelyn is 2 years old. She has several medical needs including CHD and orthopedic issues. We are waiting on genetic testing to rule out a genetic condition.

She is doing well developmentally. She walks independently. She can stack cups, find a missing object, and follow simple commands. She is very inquisitive about what is going on around her.

Katelyn is shy and quiet around people she doesn't know, but is active and talkative with people she trusts.

And listen to this little detail: (I love these nuggets!) She loves to play with adult shoes. Isn't that adorable?! Can't you just imagine her clomping around in too-big shoes?

Magnificent Miles {Under Consideration}

Although Typhoon Dujuan interfered with our plans to see many of the waiting children during our short Superkids trip to Taiwan last month, we were still able to briefly meet a few children. Miles is one of those precious children.

Miles is a sweet 15 month old little boy who is living in the children’s home. He was so happy and playful during our visit! He loved Erin’s long skirt and crawled around the room chasing after her to try and play with it!

We also saw what a wonderful relationship he had with one of his caregivers. The two of them sat on the floor together making different sounds back and forth to each other. He would imitate the sounds his caregiver was making and laugh at their silliness. It was incredibly adorable to watch!

Miles’ caregivers noted that he loves to play with toys that make sounds, especially a rattle. He can understand simply instructions and is working on standing and walking.
