Meet Christian, a cute little 5 year old boy who likes to play outside, especially on the slide.

Christian has Down syndrome and post operative CHD. He loves cartoons and when the TV is on he tries to get his hands on the remote to try to find cartoons to watch. I mean seriously! How adorable is that?

He used to be somewhat listless, but has become much more energetic since having his heart surgery in 2015. He started walking soon after that and has really taken off developmentally since then.

He is not picky in what he eats and he likes a little chili pepper in his food.

Oscar

Oscar is a 2 year old baby boy who is described as happy and easy-going. His file states that when he first arrived he was quiet and shy, but with time he settled in and is now outgoing and laughs easily. He likes to listen to music and raise his arms and sway "just like dancing."

Oscar has Down syndrome. He was rolling and crawling, but not yet walking when his file was prepared, when he was about 18 months old.

He likes to play with noisy toys and can hold toys and bang them together. He understands what is being said to him but is not yet speaking. He can find hidden objects and understands what no means.

Milo {Taiwan}

One precious little guy that stole our hearts at the very first glance... Meet Milo.

It’s not every Superkids trip that we get to meet such a little one. Just days before we met him, Milo celebrated his first birthday! His fluffy brown hair, button nose, chocolate colored eyes, and that precious little grin... Oh so tiny and amazing! Milo is even more special as he has something extra, an extra 21st chromosome. Down syndrome.

Little Milo can crawl, sit independently, pull himself up and has even started to cruise along where he pulled himself up. He was so curious about the camera that he pulled himself up along the wooden crib filled with toys to get just a little closer and then stretched his arm out. One very precious moment that was captured forever. 

He is developing a special bond with his nanny. It was sweet to experience their relationship as Milo would clap along and share his little grin as she sang patty cake and helped him bring his hands together to clap. When his hands were not clapping he enjoyed chewing on his little fingers.

Many giggles were shared when the big yellow yoga ball was brought out. Both Milo and another young boy patted the ball to feel the vibration. He did his best to hug this big yellow ball even though it was truly larger than him. All while showing how strong he was to stand alone with arms stretched out. 

So many precious moments to be shared, could you be the family Milo awaits? The family to come alongside him as he journeys through life. As he shows his abilities and proves that his diagnosis of Down syndrome does not define him.

World Down Syndrome Day! {Pierce}

It is World down Syndrome Day and we are rocking the crazy socks at our house!

I have been waiting to introduce a very special little boy who has Down syndrome and I thought today would be the perfect day to introduce him. His name is Pierce and he just turned 4 years old. And he wants you to know that there is #nothingdownaboutme!

This sweet little guy is waiting for his family in China. He is an active little boy who loves to play outside. He is attached to his foster mom and responds well to her instructions. He isn't talking much yet, but  he can vocalize and say a few words.

He can hold a crayon and imitate lines and shapes when they are drawn. He likes to listen to music and dance.

Pierce has a $4,000 grant through Gladney!

Pierce is from an orphanage Superkids has visited many times. This precious boy needs a family to provide the love and support he will need throughout life. Aria

We met Aria when she was just 18 months old and she was quite the little snuggle-bunny! She loved the extra attention she got from our team and was thrilled with her little hair bow.

This gorgeous little one has Down syndrome. She is 2 years old and is described as a quiet, cuddly child. She sits independently, crawls and stands without help. She is taking steps and beginning to walk.

She feeds herself small finger foods and bangs blocks together. She responds to her name and understands simple instructions. She likes playing with blocks and dolls.

Aria has a $4,000 grant through Gladney.

Cecilia

Are you ready to meet a precious 1 year old baby girl who has Down syndrome!? We don't have good pictures, but I want to go ahead and introduce her anyway. She is soooooo sweet!

Cecilia has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. We are seeking an update and better photos for her and should get those soon. For now we know that she is 18 months old and she also has CHD (ASD).

She is a quiet, happy baby who only cries when she is hungry. She holds toys to play with them and babbles while she is playing.

Sanford

Sanford is a sweet baby boy who needs a family!

He is 20 months old and has Down syndrome. He lives in a foster home and seems very attached to his foster mom. We met him in October of 2016, he was only 10 months old at the time, so it was fun to read through the file and see how he has changed! 

He feeds himself and sits independently. He follows simple instructions and is crawling. He claps his hands when he sees his friends coming and likes to listen to stories. He waves good-bye. He vocalizes and says a few simple words.

Scott

Today we're going to introduce you to a sweet 7 year old boy who is described as a brave and joyful little boy. We are calling him Scott, and he is a real cutie!

Scott has Down syndrome. He loves to draw and paint and is polite and well behaved. He lives with a foster family and enjoys helping with housework. He enjoys playing games, kicking balls, and playing with blocks.

Scott has a $4,000 grant through Gladney.

He sounds like such a great little fellow. He needs a family who can help him reach his greatest potential. Can you imagine the snuggles and giggles this great little guy would add to a family?

October - National Down Syndrome Awareness Month

We always look forward to October around here! It is a time to celebrate and bring awareness our sweet children who are rocking that extra chromosome!

We will be sharing pictures, sharing stories, asking questions, and hopefully finding homes for some of the children in this little video.



We are continuing our grant of $4,000 for all of our children with Down syndrome, or any child from the shared list with Down syndrome adopted through Gladney.

Please share our posts this month and help us spread the word about the need for families to open their hearts and homes to a child with Down syndrome.

Meet Shane!

Shane is only 17 months old and is the sweetest little guy! We met him when he was only 5 months old, and he was already a champion cuddler! But, my goodness, has he ever grown up since then.

Shane has Down syndrome. He is described as a shy, quiet baby who prefers to be held by his foster mom. He lives in a foster home with 5 foster siblings.

He sits independently and crawls. He likes to play with toys and can feed himself finger foods. He makes happy noises and vocalizes, but isn't saying words yet.

Silva

Today we are introducing Silva, a lovely 3 year old girl. She likes to look at books and is described as energetic and outgoing.

Silva's file indicates that she has Down syndrome. She walks independently and goes up and down steps on her own. She likes to listen to music and play with toys. Her favorite toys are dolls.

Silva has a good appetite and gets upset when she sees food that isn't meant for her (don't we all know that feeling!). She follows simple instructions, responds to her name, and has fun using crayons to scribble on paper.

Hayden

Hayden is only 1 year old and is an incredibly adorable baby boy. Just look at that little grin! Melt.my.heart into a puddle on the floor.

Hayden has Down Syndrome and an extra digit on his right hand. Like all of our sweeties with Down Syndrome, Hayden has a $4,000 grant available through Gladney! Can you think of any good reason this baby should wait for a family? Neither can I.

Hayden recognizes his name when it is called and rolls over independently. He holds toys in his hands and plays with them. He is a smiley little fellow and like his bouncy seat.

Nadia

Nadia is a darling, happy little girl who shows her recognition for people by laughing and waving her hands. She is very happy when her caregiver arrives in the morning.

She is 2 years old and has Down Syndrome. She was independently and communicates through simple words and gestures. She enjoys playing with blocks, putting them in a bucket then dumping them out. She also loves playing with balloons and splashing in water.

Nadia is described as a quiet child, and I love this picture of her looking at books! Doesn't she just look too sweet? This little sweetie needs a family! Could she be your daughter?

Nolan

Are you ready for some darling dancing baby boy cuteness this morning? Meet Nolan!

Nolan is 2 years old and is described as quiet and shy. His file says he cries very sad tears when he is left by familiar people. Doesn't that make you want to scoop him up and keep him close forever?

He is learning to walk and takes several steps independently, or at least he was when his file was prepared a couple of months ago. I bet he is walking and running by now. He is also learning to communicate his needs. He understands simple commands.

I had to laugh when I read that he favorite activity is football. Not bad for a baby who wasn't quite walking!

Nolan has Down Syndrome. Like all of our waiting children with Down Syndrome, he has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. We would love to help you bring this precious baby home!

Meet Nova!

This precious, adorable little girl is turning 3 next week. So an early happy birthday is in order, I think. Wouldn't it be awesome for her to get a family for her 3rd birthday?

Nova is described as lovely and sweet. She has Down syndrome and CHD (ASD). She is growing and developing well. She walks and jumps, she crawls and goes up steps with assistance.

Nova likes listening to music and doing motions to songs along with her nannies and the other children. She likes to be held and cuddled. She says a few words and follows simple instructions. She seems to be doing great, and she is just so cute!

Micah - Our Little Star {Taiwan}

Micah may be 4 but he knows what he likes and doesn’t like. And don’t you know it; he liked sunglasses. Once he put the sunglasses on it was game over. This kid knows how to work it and he was such a ham. He would look for the camera and strike a pose every time. We got hip Micah, smiley Micah, and superstar Micah just to name a few.

Once you meet Micah, you cannot stay away from him.  His big smile radiates across his face while his deep dark brown eyes draw you in and melt your soul.  His loveable character can be seen when he sees his caregiver from across the room and runs with arms wide open to embrace them with a huge hug. 

Micah likes to keep you on your toes; you never know what he might do. But what you do know is that he is always trying to make you smile and laugh.

Micah is diagnosed with Down syndrome, but he doesn’t let that extra chromosome slow him down.

New Files {And Eddie}

What do you do when you are just getting ready to leave for a trip to Taiwan and you get new files from China? 

You quickly schedule a couple of extra blog posts to introduce a few of the new children!

Meet Eddie!

Eddie is 2 years old. And as cute as a little button! He has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. His file states, "he is active and lively, he likes listening to children's songs very much" It also indicates that he likes to dance to the music! Can you even imagine this little cutie dancing to music?! {Swoon...}

Eddie crawls and stands independently, he is taking steps and very close to walking! He stacks blocks and bangs them together. He feeds himself finger foods. He likes toys that light up and make noise.

Eddie lives in a group foster home which Superkids visited the last time we were in China. It seems to be a place where children receive more individualized attention than is normally seen in an orphanage setting.

Meet Eloise!

This little smile will warm your heart today!

Meet Eloise! She is a sweet 2 year old baby girl who has Down Syndrome and post-operative CHD. She smiles easily and likes to be held and bounced to music. She crawls and walks with assistance. She bangs blocks together and can build a small tower.

She feeds herself small finger foods and her favorite food is cake (I'm already imagining a smash cake photo shoot for her third birthday!). This little one likes toys that make sounds and have flashing lights.

Meet Ezra!

Ezra is a darling little boy who just turned 3. He obviously considers himself quite handsome...

And I'm sure you can't argue with this cute little face!

Ezra has Down Syndrome. he is described as being quiet and sweet. When we met him in October he really loved playing with our stacking cups. He also participated in little songs with motions when the caregivers helped a group of children sing. It was so cute!

Ezra was saying a few simple words and was walking independently when we met him in October. He giggled when the caregiver was teasing him and seemed very engaged in what was happening in the room around him.

These words are just five of many that capture our birthday boy, Micah. His personality is magnetic as it is virtually impossible to stay away from him. He has a way of drawing you into his world. His warm brown eyes and big smile are priceless. 

Micah is inspiring as he rocks his extra chromosome. He is a role model to his friends as he shows them he can do anything he sets his mind to.

He is the sweetest most compassionate little person I've met. Micah is sure to share lots of hugs and kisses with his friends and nannies. His love for his extra special house brothers is undeniable.

Adventurous... oh yes he is. Micah is just like any other boy when it comes to the adventure department. A precious moment I witnessed was him giggling as he put on his nannies flip flops and scurried down the hall.

Micah is quick to help pick up after play time or even to help keep the other kids smiling. He enjoys showing how he can sign and make animal noises while the nannies sing a song.

This little guy is one amazingly handsome fellow that for certain does not let his extra chromosome stop him from showing off his abilities. Rather his extra chromosome makes him exactly who he is... the magnetic, inspiring, compassionate, adventurous, helpful Micah we have all fallen deeply in love with.
