Family Friday!! {MATCHES!}

It is time to announce matches! Most of theses children are from China, but the brothers are from Taiwan! Help us celebrate today by liking and sharing this post!

I was recently in Mexico and got to watch a baby sea turtle release. We all cheered them on as they instinctively headed toward the water. Something about the way we all stood there cheering them on reminded me of our Gladney Superkids team as we think of the children we advocate for (just stay with me, I know I'm being a little cheesy). We love announcing matches!

Gratitude on Thanksgiving Day {Family Story}

My family is so very thankful for the gift of adoption. We have seen such a transformation of this sweet girl who walked in to meet her new family July 30, 2018 for the first time. I don’t think any of us knew what to think and we were ALL scared.

As of today she gets amazing medical care, therapy, preschool, and a family who loves her. I know many tell us how we have changed her life but I can guarantee you she has made each of us better even in these short 4 months.

Thank you God for showing us the gift of adoption by sending your son, and thank you Gladney for helping us experience love like none other!  We are thankful!

Gratitude on Thanksgiving Day {Family Story}

This year I have been blessed with the most amazing gift ever, my daughter Mia, who I adopted from China this past September. She has changed my world for the better and has put purpose to my life.

I’m thankful for the people who have been put in my life to make this adoption happen. I’m thankful to have a supportive family who loves Mia unconditionally! These things aren’t coincidental, it was meant to be, and for that I’m forever grateful.

With the addition of Mia to our family, Thanksgiving had taken on a new meaning. It’s a time to reflect on how truly blessed we are and a time to give thanks. Our family traditions takes on a new purpose, to show Mia the importance of family and friends and the love that connects us. To take the time to give gratitude to those who are with us and to those who are no longer. It’s a time to give thanks to the creator for all he has given to us.

Mia has added the key ingredients to show us that it’s a time in our lives to slow down and enjoy the little things. It’s a time to give thanks and to be at peace with what god has given to us. These are the moments I hope to share with my daughter!

Family Friday

We are doing something a little different on the blog today, but we just can't wait to show you these adorable pictures! When we posted about Leeza we had so many people inquire about her and so many people have expressed interest in this darling little girl since then that we want to share some pictures with you.

The moment that a child becomes a part of a family is magical. It is often hard and scary and overwhelming in many ways, but one moment they are alone in the world, the next they are treasured members of a family. And there is magic there even if it is hidden under layers of grief and fear.

For Leeza that magical moment happened this week. This is it. This is why we all work together for these children. This is why we ask you to share posts. This is the moment we are working toward.

In this moment and all of the moments to follow, we want to wish Leeza and her family the very best! Thank you for allowing us to share in this bit of magic!

Family Friday!

A Father’s Day Thought - You Complete Me

The crew on my birthday

As I was putting my son to bed one night recently he asked me something to the effect, “Daddy why did you adopt me?”  If you have an adoption story you have likely heard or will hear this question many times.  I have answered this question before but this time I gave it a different thought.  See we had also just come off our third adoption and I kind of sensed the question is really more about why did you do this or need to do this?

So I told my son as honestly as I could that we did not need to adopt him or his sisters to his surprise. As I explained, because when you need something it is more of an act of instinct, or survival so the satisfaction in the act is limited. No, when I thought about his question, I smiled and told him, “Buddy, I wanted you!” I chased after you with all the love of my heart for you and your sisters. All the long nights of paperwork, and worry.  All the driving around and chasing the next authentication or deadline, was not something I needed to do but I wanted to do.

I wanted and chased after all my children as one who loves with reckless abandonment until that day when I had my children in my arms and peace settled into the deepest part of my soul.   That moment happened a year ago last Father’s day, after a long trip to bring home my precious daughter, we just happened to have Father’s day weekend as our first weekend home. As we sat around the table having lunch, an overwhelming feeling hit me and turned to my wife and said, “This is right, this is what we were meant to be as a family”.

My little ones, my loves, you completed me that Father’s Day and every Father’s Day for all time.

Family Friday!!

We have matches, matches, matches to announce!!

Both of the little girls from China are matches made from the shared list, which is exciting because it is always a little uncertain when there are changes in the way matching is done. But one thing that hasn't changed is that there are still children needing families and the Gladney staff's dedication to finding appropriate families for each child! Congratulations to both of these excited families!

And we are thrilled to announce 3 matches in the Taiwan program! Our Taiwan program is expanding so quickly and we are proud and grateful to be a part of that growth! Both Darwin and Daisy were matched thanks to the advocacy efforts of Superkids volunteers who met them.

A huge congratulations from us to each of these children and their families! What an exciting week! Please help us congratulate all of these families by liking and sharing this post!

All I Want For Christmas...

All I want for Christmas...

Is YOU!

We started this week announcing 7 matches from China. And now we end it with more good news!

Good news from Taiwan: Micah has a family! We wish the best for this precious little guy and his family!

Here he is receiving a gift his family sent with our team last month

We also learned that Andrew, also from Taiwan, has a family through another agency. We are excited for him and his family and wish them all the best as they move forward!

Right now our precious little Nyle is spending his last few days in an orphanage. On Christmas day he and his family will get the most amazing gift anyone could receive: FAMILY.

We are wrapping up this year with such joy as we celebrate the beautiful things that are happening. May your holidays be blessed and full of love.

Family Friday! {Taiwan Welcome Home Post!}

Welcome Home Jean and Kiki!

We are all so excited and happy for Jean and Kiki, two sisters from Taiwan who are now home and part of a forever family! Mom, Alison, and dad, Jonathan, made it through all of the paperwork and all of the waiting and now finally have their daughter’s home!

Alison and Jonathan learned about Jean and Kiki after our Superkids team met the girls. After seeing some posts we made, they asked to review the girls information – and the rest is history!

Congratulations Jean, Kiki, Alison and Jonathan! We wish your family a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and most importantly love.
