Aldon {Taiwan}

We have been thinking about Aldon for the last week and today we are finally able to share a little about him! Aldon is 11 years old and we met him in November during our Taiwan Superkids trip.  He is a polite sweet spirited boy.  His smile makes your heart happy, and yes, a little melancholy too.

We had a great developmental screening session with Aldon and he was happy to impress us with how athletic he is. He made doing push-ups and sit-ups look so easy and we all cheered him on as he did over 20 of each! His face lit up as he was asked to compete each new agility drill and completed it with ease.

Alton seemed comfortable with us and enjoyed saying “thank you” in English. He also asked where we were from in English. Aldon told us he likes school and that his favorite subject is PE since he loves to play basketball and is very athletic. His least favorite subject is social studies (I think that was the least favorite for many of us).

A few of Aldon’s favorite things are the color red, eggs, fried noodles and curry rice. He apparently enjoys a good game of Chinese chess or Monopoly every chance he gets(when he’s not shooting hoops!). Aldon also likes to spend time outside riding bikes. When asked to describe himself he says he is happy, kind and enjoys helping others.

There are many adventures to be shared with this amazing boy. Mountain trails to master, basketball games to play and lots of family time around the table enjoying good food and conversation.  Alton has older siblings, including a 13 year old brother whose adoption file is also prepared.

Asher & Amber {Siblings from Taiwan}

This darling little sibling group came bouncing into the room together when we met them last month. They were obviously great friends and I was surprised to learn that they are not actually in the same foster home. They do have regular play dates and seem to get along very well.

Amber is 4 and enjoys listen to and singing along with the choir at church. She is in preschool and loves telling her foster mom all about her day each afternoon. She enjoys playing with dolls, pretending to cook, and taking cell phone pictures. She loves to pose for pictures and is awfully cute when she does it!

Asher is 2. He likes to play with little cars and throw balls. He likes to cuddle and still enjoys being rocked to sleep with his pacifier. He is described as lively and clever by his foster mom. He is learning to speak and communicates quite well. He follows simple instructions and is starting to recognize colors.

Amber has a few developmental delays. She has possible mild cerebral palsy and wears braces on her feet. She easily walks without the braces as well as with them. Asher does not have any known medical needs.

Double the Fun! Ava & Alex {Taiwan}

4 year old twins! Ava and Alex!

Like all siblings they have differences and similarities.  What did we learn about them when we met them earlier this month?  They both seem like typical pre-school age kids. Ava likes singing and listening to music and Alex isn’t too fond of bugs.

They both enjoy preschool and their teachers report many early learning strengths like getting along with peers and following instructions. They have their favorite toys, for Alex this is a bicycle and for Ava a stuffed bunny. And, maybe not too telling, but they both love white rice!

Alex and Ava are both reported to have some developmental delays. Ava has mild cerebral palsy. She wears a brace on her right leg, though she can walk, run, and jump without it. She strings beads and can manage buttons. Both of the children speak clearly and do typical developmental things such as count to ten, string beads, and play with balls.

The advocacy names Alex and Ava were given to this sibling group by volunteer advocates who participate on the private Advocate for Taiwan Waiting Children Facebook page.  In this group we share photos and videos that we cannot share on our public blog and Facebook page. Be sure to join if you haven't already!

Adorable Brothers, Deacon & Dudley {Taiwan}

Meet 6 year old Deacon and his little brother Dudley who just turned 5 years old. I wish we could share more photos and the video of these two here on the blog – they are beyond adorable! Join our private Facebook group, Advocate for Taiwan waiting Children, to see more about these sweet brothers.

Deacon is described as active, social, and curious. He enjoys school and does well. He especially likes adding and subtracting using the abacus. He enjoys playing with toy cars, robots, and doing arts and crafts projects.

Dudley!

Dudley is described as active with a good sense of humor. He loves to laugh! He is not yet in school, but gets along well with his peers. He can follow instructions during games and has good relationships with his caregivers. He enjoys playing with toy cars and robots.

Both brothers are reported to be developmentally on target for their age, and have good communication skills. They do not have medical needs. Could these fun brothers be your sons? Contact Taiwan Program Caseworker Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.orgfor more information.

NOTE: Taiwan's privacy laws do not allow us to post full-face pictures of children. We do not have other pictures that we can share publicly yet. Please contact us to see pictures of both boys.

Moses & Matilda {Taiwan}

Prepare for total sweetness overload. This brother and sister pair are so much fun. From the moment we met they had our attention. Matilda, age 9, so sweetly dressed in her floral dress and lacy socks. Moses, age 10, in his stylish star shorts and striped shirt.

Our game of match was met with giggles as each tried to get the most matches. Matilda playing by the rules while Moses started to turn multiple over at once. Boys will be boys...

Moses was quick to show us his puzzle talent as he followed the directions. Such a concentrated look on his face.

Matilda was sweet as she enjoyed creating her very own tote bag decorated by many shapes and colors. She also really enjoyed the I Spy book and finding the hidden treasures.

Both brother and sister enjoyed sharing their smiles with us as we snapped pictures. We have so much to share about these precious two. Might you be their forever family? For more information on Moses and Matilda, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org.

Brothers! Dallas & Denver {Taiwan}

Brothers! Precious brothers! Introducing 5 year old Dallas and 6 year old Denver. Let the sweetness melt your chilly day away... It seems as though it was just yesterday when the giggles from Dallas as he played soccer filled the room. And Denver shared his precious smile as I made my best car noises as we drove his lego creation through the make shift maze.

Denver
These boys are smart and fun loving! Those teddy bear brown eyes let me tell you... It was sweet to watch them interact with us, from silly moments playing goal keeper or just the sweet eye contact while figuring out how to fix the lego creation and searching the I Spy book for the next clue.

Dallas
Dallas and Denver are in search of their forever family. A family to call just their own. Wouldn't it be amazing if on the next Superkids trip we give them the news... the gift of a forever family!
