Moe! {Taiwan}

Climb aboard... introducing 10 year old Moe!

From the moment he stepped foot in the room his smile was wide. He is so fun loving and adventurous. His climbing skills are fabulous as he was quick to show us he could master the rope ladder. His smile was joined by laughter the moment he began to play ball with us. At one point with a ball in each hand it appears that he is feeding the hippo. Gotta love those fun moments... he giggled as we showed him pictures and he surprised us as he said "time out" in English!

Each of the moments we spent together was precious. Moe was so respectful and genuinely interested to see what skill tests he would get to do. As he showed us his handwriting and answered questions we got to experience his connection to his foster dad. Total sweetness! He also showed us his creative skills as he worked the Tetris puzzles.

Moe is searching for his forever family. Could you be his forever? He is certain to bring great joy to the family that opens their home to him. For more information on Moe, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org

Evelyn!

We met Evelyn!

It never ceases to amaze me how different it is to write an advocacy post after you have met a child! Let me tell you about Evelyn now that we have met her and seen this cuteness in person!

Evelyn is 2. She has Down syndrome and CHD. And she is the cutest, sweetest, silliest little 2 year old girl you could hope to meet!

She is walking by herself and really aced all of our little developmental things we do with little ones. She scribbles and stacks blocks and she is all about the baby puffs! Believe me, she can grab them and get those things to her mouth no problem!

She understands simple commands, though her caregiver pointed out that she also likes to pick and choose which of those commands she actually follows. She is 2, after all.

There was a whole group of little ones in the room with her and the caregivers were singing little songs with them and doing hand motions. She was right in there doing the motions! So, so cute!

Evelyn has a $4,000 grant through Gladney. Please spread the word and let's get this little one home! Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information about adopting Evelyn!

Delaney {Taiwan}

This 8 year old 'lil lady is sure to make heads turn as she shows off her new hair style. Delaney is so proud to have picked it all by herself!

Our time together started with shyness and whispers... In just a short time, and with the help of a silly chair stacking game, we were off on an amazing adventure.

Delaney was excited to show her game skills and stack those little chairs. And ever so delicate to not cause a sudden tumble. Sharing a big grin as she stacked each chair with success and awaited her next turn.

Then it was time to leap into some active play. We found out rather quickly how much she enjoys soccer. Her smile got even wider and the room was filled with her sweet laughter.

Delaney is a perfect mix of shy and tumble fun. She is in search of her forever family to share life's adventures. Could she be your daughter? For more information on Delaney, please contact Mary Chapman at mary.chapman@gladney.org

An Update for Lorelei!

We got to spend time with Lorelei while we were in China and oh! what a sweetie she is!

She was sitting on the floor with several other children and we got out the crayons and coloring books. She scooted right over and joined in the fun! And then came the smiles and the giggles! This girl is just so bubbly!

Lorelei is almost 6 years old and has cerebral palsy. She does not walk, but she sits by herself and scoots on the floor to get to where she wants to go. She is described as a leader among her peers. This little one just needs a family to support her and she could go so far!

Lorelei counts, knows her colors, answers questions in complete sentences, and follows directions. She engaged in conversation with Rocky and whatever he said must have been funny, because he had he giggling almost immediately!

Little Lorelei is such a treasure! Could she be your daughter? Please contact April Uduhiri at april.uduhiri@gladney.org for more information.

Family Friday!

Taiwan Match!

We are so thrilled to announce that 4 year old twins, Danielle and Dana, have been matched! Their forever family recently received their official match paperwork and are working on their dossier and PAIR paperwork now. We hope for a speedy court process so that these sweet sisters can be home soon!

Wordless Wednesday {Ah, China!}

A Great Need: Children in China and Taiwan with Down Syndrome

Happy National Adoption month! Let's start this month off right! We have an exciting announcement to make!

Superkids spent the month of October in Taiwan and China. We traveled to over a dozen cities to see more than 200 adoptable children. The final trip will take Superkids to Guizhou for a week over the Thanksgiving holiday, to update files for children who were formerly on the ‘shared list’. As Gladney staff and volunteers return home, the hearts and minds of the teams collectively reflect and wonder and hope. We hope that there are families for these children we have met.

Over the past month we cuddled, chased, and developmentally screened close to 60 children who have Down Syndrome.

As National Adoption Month begins, we would like to announce that a portion of funds in Gladney Center’s Asia Adoption Support Fund will be made available to parents adopting a child with Down Syndrome through Gladney Center.  Grants will be in the amount of $4,000 for children who are matched with parents who have completed their Gladney Application.

The grant will be applied to offset program fees due after home study approval and after the official child referral has been signed.  Families who complete their applications between now and February 1, 2017, are eligible to apply for this grant.
