Jayden and Orin {Urgent!!}

We have posted about these sweet baby boys before, but their situation has changed and we need to find families for them quickly. Both of these adorable boys have spent most of their little lives either being cared for in the Butterfly Home or in foster homes. They are now being moved from their foster homes to the orphanage in charge of their care due to new regulations in China. You can read about Jayden here and Orin here.

Jayden

Orin
Can you imagine a child needing to make those changes? We need families who are willing to move as quickly as possible to get these boys home! Can you please help us by sharing this post?

Odin

We are introducing Odin today. He is a cute little 4 year old boy who was born prematurely.

Unfortunately his file is pretty outdated, we are seeking an update, but in the meantime we want to tell you what we know about him!

He was almost 2 when his file was prepared. At that time he was taking steps independently. He was crawling and climbing and apparently loved playing in his walker. He was saying mama and understood what was said to him. So it sounds like his development was good for a 2 year old!

His personality is described as happy and sunny. He loved to be snuggled and would reach out his arms to beg to be held. He sounds like such a sweetheart!

If he was doing this well at 2 I'm guessing he is really doing well at age 4! We will keep you all updated if we receive updated information!

Keith {Taiwan}

We are ready to start introducing some of the new children we met on our recent trip to Taiwan. And who better to start with than darling little Keith?

Keith is 3 years old and his file indicates that he has a repaired cleft palate and some developmental delays. He was pretty shy and quiet at first, but slowly warmed up and ended up having quite a lot of fun with us.

He knows his colors and copies shapes on a piece of paper. He built block towers and responded very well to praise. He really started warming up when we started being silly, and he does have a cute little laugh!

He is saying words, and putting together simple sentences but his speech is difficult to understand. He is getting speech therapy. He dresses and undresses himself.

By the end of our time together he gave Nancy a sweet hug. It was just precious!

Could Keith be your son? Please contact mary.chapman@gladney.org for more information. And don't forget to join our private Facebook group where we can show photos and videos that can't be shown publicly.

Liam

We met Liam several times in our trips to the orphanage where he lives. We had his file back in 2015, you can read a post about him here. He is still waiting.

We just got an update on him with some handsome new pictures. He is doing really well! He is a healthy, active almost 12 year old boy! He is developmentally delayed, but is doing well in the special needs school he attends. He can do addition facts and has memorized poetry. He is a happy boy with a very lovable personality!

One of my favorite things I remember about him is his love for lollipops. He was so ute asking for them that he had an entire handful by the time he left the room!

This sweet little guy is delayed, but has the best personality! Could he be your son? Please email us at superkids@gladney.org for more information!

Family Friday!

We love making these announcements! Congratulations to the happy families!

Oliver

Oliver is a darling little 20 month old baby boy who is waiting for a family.

I am just going to go ahead and put the little videos we have of him right here because they are so cute and his little giggle is heart melting. Is there anything cuter than wobbly baby steps?

Oliver has hydrocephalus, craniostenosis, and gall stones. He is developing well at this point, already walking and communicating his needs. He feeds himself with a spoon and helps to dress and undress himself.

He is in a foster family and seems to have settled in well there. He likes to play with toys that make noise.

This sweet little guy needs a family! Could he be your son? Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information.

We Are Home! What Now?

We all made it home from Taiwan (with the exception of Gongzhan Wu, who is traveling in China for the next few weeks) safe and sound. We are getting over jet lag and starting to process the huge amount of information we brought home with us.

Each child we saw will have their own folder in Dropbox where we will put all of their information. We have information sheets and identification photos besides the photos and videos for each child. I came home with around 4,000 photos and 200 videos that need to be edited, sorted, and uploaded. It is a massive job.

Taken through the glass floor of the gondola sky lift we took up the mountain.

So how do we do it? How do we prioritize? We will first upload the photos and videos of children who are matched with families, then the ones who have families reviewing their files. Once that is completed we make a priority list for advocacy based on whether files are completed, etc. and work in that order to get all of the information uploaded.

Mary will be busy in the coming days speaking to matched families, giving them the much-anticipated updates on their children.

We have done this often enough to be pretty efficient with it by now, but it all takes time. And we are probably all still waking up at odd hours of the night/early morning, unable to sleep. It is the nature of the work.

We met a lot of new children that we can't wait to introduce here! And new pictures of children we know are always fun to have. Keep watching! We will be sharing everything here as we can.

You can also join our private Taiwan Facebook group where we can share pictures and videos of children that cannot be shared publicly. We have some cute stuff to share over the coming weeks and months!
