Draydon Update {Taiwan}

We wrote a post about Draydon back in September. You can read it here. Since then we got to spend time with him in November. He is a quiet little guy who is described by his foster mom as happy, smart, well-behaved, and talkative.

He answered our questions thoughtfully and used quite a few English words. He likes playing outside, with dodge ball being his favorite game. He enjoys running and playing tag.

Draydon is 8 years old. He takes medicine for ADHD, which seems to control it well. He does well at and really likes school, where his favorite subjects are science and social studies. He has a lot of friends. He is the only child in his foster home and he enjoys going to school to be with other children.

Can we just talk about these eyelashes for a couple of seconds? Look at how handsome this sweet boy is!

Draydon needs a family where he can fit in and thrive. He is such a sweet kid! Please contact us at mary.chapman@gladney.org for more information about him. And don't forget to join our private Facebook group where we can share more pictures and videos showing his face.

Meet Edmund!

Look at this cute baby boy! He looks like he needs a mommy to hold him and cuddle him, doesn't he?

This is Edmund. He is 2 years old and his file indicates that, even hough he doesn't talk much yet, he likes to have interaction with people and will babble when someone speaks to him.

He has post-operative CHD and hand deformities. He sits independently and crawls, but is not yet walking. He picks up small objects such as snacks with his hands and can feed himself finger foods.

Look at that cute smile!

He knows his name and understands what no means (sounds like something a 2 year old needs to know). He puts blocks into a cup then dumps them out. He likes playing with small toys such as blocks.

This sweet little guy needs a family who will get the medical care he needs and support him as he catches up developmentally. Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information on how to make him your son!

Aldon {Taiwan}

We have been thinking about Aldon for the last week and today we are finally able to share a little about him! Aldon is 11 years old and we met him in November during our Taiwan Superkids trip.  He is a polite sweet spirited boy.  His smile makes your heart happy, and yes, a little melancholy too.

We had a great developmental screening session with Aldon and he was happy to impress us with how athletic he is. He made doing push-ups and sit-ups look so easy and we all cheered him on as he did over 20 of each! His face lit up as he was asked to compete each new agility drill and completed it with ease.

Alton seemed comfortable with us and enjoyed saying “thank you” in English. He also asked where we were from in English. Aldon told us he likes school and that his favorite subject is PE since he loves to play basketball and is very athletic. His least favorite subject is social studies (I think that was the least favorite for many of us).

A few of Aldon’s favorite things are the color red, eggs, fried noodles and curry rice. He apparently enjoys a good game of Chinese chess or Monopoly every chance he gets(when he’s not shooting hoops!). Aldon also likes to spend time outside riding bikes. When asked to describe himself he says he is happy, kind and enjoys helping others.

There are many adventures to be shared with this amazing boy. Mountain trails to master, basketball games to play and lots of family time around the table enjoying good food and conversation.  Alton has older siblings, including a 13 year old brother whose adoption file is also prepared.

Meet John!

My personal favorite memory of John involves the throwing and catching of balls which he thought was hilarious. Especially when he threw balls and I failed to catch them.

John is 9 years old and has cerebral palsy that involves some involuntary movement. He walks, runs, and jumps. He can feed and dress himself. He likes to play outside and especially loves to swing.

He has very strong connections with his caregivers in The Butterfly Home. He takes his time learning to know people, but forms deep connections with time.

He has difficulty communicating, but he says mama and can communicate when he wants to eat. He understands simple instructions.

John is very loved in the Butterfly Home and they are very hopeful that a family will see him and fall in love with him as they have.

Please contact us at superkids@gladney.org for more information about this great little guy!
